:: Do not let fear or "what you heard" stop you from doing what you want to do. Be brave, be smart, and find a way to make it work.
I'll admit, I was very nervous to travel to Morocco alone, especially after hearing not great stories from many women. But instead of passing on one of my biggest bucket list destinations, I decided to get smart and find a way around appearing alone. I met with two awesome local women who gave me valuable tips and insights, then I only booked Airbnb's so I could personally ask the hosts to help me hire guides/"friends" to walk with me in the Medinas.
Guess what? Not only did I take a 4 hour bus by myself without a problem, but today I walked all day through the markets with a local and got harassed 0 times! In fact, men were (somewhat) polite to me and in the local shared taxi, a woman even thought I was Arabic and called me "sister"! I know it's still a little sad that I have to be with a man in order to be left alone, but I'm def not complaining about it or the fact that I get the local view on everything (plus help haggling!). I have a great feeling about this trip, and to think...I used to be scared to come here alone! 💪🏼🙋🏼🌎💖
