Salah beats Moses, emerges 2017 BBC African Player of the Year
Egypt captain #MohamedSalah
has been voted the 2017 BBC African Footballer of the Year.
The Liverpool forward beat Super Eagles and #Chelsea
and Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick #Aubameyang
, Guinea and Leipzig’s Naby Keita and #Senegal
’s Sadio Mane to the award.
Salah has been in brilliant form for both club and country in the outgoing year, and played a key role in #Egypt
’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.
The former #ASRoma
and Chelsea player, who moved to #Liverpool
this season, is currently the highest goal scorer in the English #PremierLeague
with 13 goals.
Speaking after receiving the award, #Salah
said: “It’s always a special feeling when you win something. I feel like I had a great year, so I’m very happy.” He becomes the third #Egyptian
after Mohamed Barakat in 2005 and Mohamed #Aboutrika
in 2008 to win the 17-year-old #BBC
