I came across this quote the other day that said, “we leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place; we stay there, even though we go away. And there are things in us that we can find again only by going back there.” (Pascal Mercier, Night Train to Lisbon) .
And I thought, man. I know what feels like. Even though I was only there a short time, I left a piece of my heart in Scotland. And God’s had it on my heart since I left. It’s been pulling and tugging and won’t let go. I don’t know what I might find if I go back - but I think, if I give this pull on my heart a voice and pray over it and maybe even plan for it - that maybe I’ll be lucky enough to find out. .
I’ll admit I don’t know much; but this much I know: God’s in the habit of giving us way more than we ask for. Way more than we dream or think or know is possible. So I’m going to give it to the one who gave me dreams; the one who knows them and wants them and makes hearts big enough to hold them. And maybe, if I’m lucky enough, I’ll not only discover the scattered pieces of me I left behind; but whole new pieces along the way. .
