Riley Wolfe. Only good things come to mind when I hear that name. Full of energy, full of laughs. Here is a memory We shared that will last with me forever. It's the fourth and final day of the Junior Olympics for volleyball in Atlanta, and we (MB Surf u14s) are in the gold bracket, meaning we are still competing for the gold medal. It's an early wake up call, had to be at the convention center ready to warm up at around 7am. I had over slept and messages on my phone only confirmed the team had left the hotel to go warm up and get ready for the big day. As I rush down from my room to the hotel lobby, I stop in relief. I am not the only one who missed the teams departure. There stands a little Riles with a huge smile on his face. Still grinning he said something along the lines of " You too huh?" Followed by his trademark burst of laughter. His positivity would always shine through. With no time to wait for another van to arrive to get us to the convention center, or the means to pay for one, we decide to walk. A walk through downtown Atlanta, Georgia at 7am with my boy Riles, good times. We took this time to joke around saying how our walk to the gym was equivalent to whatever warmup our team was most likely doing, as we knew the team's warm up routine. That was just Rileys style, no matter the situation, it was always time to have a laugh. Despite arriving sweaty, our coaches were not impressed at our late arrival on the big day. We find out that we had missed our teams warm up and for that we were benched for the entire first game. We would eventually get our time on the court together and go on to secure the gold medal. Rest In Peace Champion.
