Honestly I had no idea this was an official thing so I did a little research.
"Africa Day (formerly African Freedom Day and African Liberation Day) is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) (now known as the African Union) on May 25, 1963. The conference showcased progress of liberation movements on the African continent in addition to symbolizing the determination of the people of Africa to free themselves from foreign domination and exploitation."
I can definitely get behind that. I've been blessed to visit a few African countries and anticipate discovering more of the continent. It's unfortunate that the western world has a very limited perspective of the continent, so much so that many people don't even think of African countries when they consider traveling and vacationing overseas. If I can change one perspective by sharing my personal experiences I feel that I've done well. Check out some photos and vids from some of my personal travels to #Ghana
, #Zambia #Zimbabwe
, and #Lesotho
. And before accepting a limited, one dimensional, damaging, and often untrue narrative, be sure to do a little digging for yourself. I guarantee you'll find more than what the media shows. #wedontsitoncouches #livelovegodobe #fearisstupid #travel #checkoutafrica #thewedontsitoncouchesexperience #tbt
